Detail in 2d elevations question
SoftPlan Version:
2014 Plus

Is it possible to put stone, siding, shingles, etc on a 2d elevation?  I'm not talking about colorized but simply the shapes as I've seen in some drawings at Spline.

2D Detail

In any of the Modes i.e. Visible Line, Sketched, Illustrated etc. etc if you select Options>Setup Options>You Will Get A Pop Up Menu So Choose Whichever Mode You Are Using i.e. Visible Line > Then With The Visible Line Menu Select Line Options> Then Select Display Sillouette & Display Textures Lines.  That should do it and it works the same for any mode.

2D Detail

Another option once you have saved a 2D drawing is to just use Paint to paint on whatever finishes you want.  I beleive Softplan comes setup to use the H key on a keyboard as a shortcut to the paint menu.

Jim thanks so much.  That did

Jim thanks so much.  That did the trick but I'll have to play with it to get it just where I want it.  I'll give the other method a try later.  Thanks again.

I saw a trap pavilion over at

I saw a trap pavilion over at Spline and noticed that things were labeled that were textured.  Anyone care to point me to the place in the user's guide on how to do that.  Once the elevation is created is it saved in some way to keep the detail and allow for notes and symbols?

Bill, after you create the 3d

Bill, after you create the 3d elevation, do a save as and save it as a drawing.   It'll save in your navigation area.

Then to draw in black and white textures like shingles brick sticks and stones open "draw" and open paints, you'll see there that there are items that will fill in whatever space you are wanting to fill, assumming it is closed off with line.  I use siding alot and then change the size to 6" by doing 150% of the 4" siding availiable.   I think this is the info your wanting?    I would think to label the textures you just write it in with notes.  If you write it before you add the texture it will mask out around the writing.   Oh I read back and see Jim explained this.

When I was building I didn't

When I was building I didn't put the detail on my elevations that can be done with paint.  I knew what I intended to do and drew floor plans with correct walls and simply labeled the elevations.  I'm a bit shocked that I never pursued the use of paint.  Thanks for opening my eyes to that simple yet effective tool.
