Adjusting Wall Materials That Don't Match Up
Adjust Wall Materials Tool
There is a tool in SoftPlan that most people don't know exists. Or if they have seen it they don't understand how it works. This tool is called Adjust Wall Material.
This tool can be used to adjust materials that for some reason are just misbehaving. The Adjust Wall Material tool can be found on the Tools tab if you are working in 2D or on the Move tab if you are working in 3D.
The Adjust Wall Materials tool has 3 options. 3D Tricks
- Butt
- Miter
- Clear
Butt
With this option you can take one material and adjust it so that it butts into another material. This is good for closing up a gap by adjusting the end of the material out horizontally.
Miter
With this option you can miter one material to another so that the outside of the two materials meet in a sharp corner.
Clear
With this option you can remove the modifications made with either Butt or Miter.
Adjust Wall Materials in Action
Matching Stucco to Brick
When you have Stucco on one wall and Brick on another and they meet in a corner it can be difficult to make the corner look right. In this case use the Miter option. Select the Adjust Wall Material tool and then with the Miter option selected click on the Brick on the face of the brick wall and on the Stucco on the face of the stucco wall. The materials will come together in the corner and make a sharp, neat joint.
Closing a Gap
Simetimes you might end up with a small gap were two walls just don't quite meet up. For example a gable wall where two siding walls meet up might not join precisely. This could be due to a variety of circumstances such as interference with other materials, beams, or walls.
Try using the Butt option to stretch the siding out toward the end of the other wall. Many times this can close up any small gaps that might be seen in 3D.
