I would have to see the wall definition but it appears that you have something in your walls besides studs. Can you give a screen shot of the definition for the wall?

Bill, I have attached the drawing. I don't remember having this problem. When you look at the materials in 3D view none of the wood material's show up.

Thanks

Rick

Try this

The wall definition looks fine.

Try this. While in 3D select the Options Tab. Select Extraction Options. Place a check next to Framing. Place a check next to Wall Framing. See if that makes a difference. If not then select File⇒Material File⇒Load. Select the Stick Frame material. Does it look right now?

Weird

Weird. Can you zip up the project and attach it? I would just need the drawing file and project file. I've just never seen anything like that happen before.

I'll send it a little later I had to go out.  Can you try the spd file that's attached to the original post and see what you get from that if you have a chance

thanks

I didn't even notice that you had attached the drawing file. I opened the drawing and the framing looks fine in 3D. So it appears that the problem would reside in the Project file. Try closing the project, delete the Project file, and then reopen the drawing. A new Project file will be automatically created.

Bill, that worked for the 3D View, X-Section I still get the solid mass for the walls. I have attached a screen shot of both. I can't figure out what I'm missing, the roof framing is visible in the X-Section.

Thanks

Rick

I really don't know. Without your files I can only speculate. I've never seen the solid walls you are showing. About all I can suggest is delete section line, close and delete project file. Open and add new section line. If that doesn't cure it I'd suggest sending it off to SoftPlan Tech.

Wall Framing in Section

Apparently you can't show wall framing in a cross section. I tried in 2016 and got the same result as in 2018.

That's crazy. I wonder why it shows a solid mass? I think I'll send it to Softplan and see what they say.

The reason I was concerned was I switched to Windows 10 and thought I had a corrupt install.

Thanks Bill, I'll let you know what tech support has to say.

Cross Sections

Cross Sections, like Elevations, work off a very simplified model. In order to show the framing within a wall that is bisected by the section line the entire wall is treated as if it were constructed from a single stud. That way no matter where you cut through the house you see the wall framing at the cut. Also, if all the studs were shown in a cross section you would potentially see nothing but a mass of studs as you were looking through the entire house. You don't have that problem with a normal 3D stick frame view because the perspective separates everything out visually.
