new properties tab fade in annoying - how can you turn this off?
SoftPlan Version:
2014 Plus

I am trying to figure out how to make the properties window not fade in. I am finding it very annoying and reducing the speed at which I can use Softplan. Also why when you pin the properties window is still disappears when you leave the current command?

Properties window

The Properties window will always disappear when you are not editing something. If you are not editing something then how can there be any properties of nothing?

If you don't want the properties window to slide in and out then click on the auto hide button for the properties window when the window is visible. The auto hide button looks like a thumbtack and is located at the top right of the window. If the thumbtack is pointing down then the window is "tacked" to that position and won't slide in and out. But it will still disappear when you are not editing anything.

If the thumbtack is to the left then the properties window will slide in and out.

If you want the properties window to open out on the screen like in previous versions then turn the thumbtack down and drag the window out onto the screen away from the side. From then on the properties window will open up next to what you are editing rather than on the side of the screen.

If you want to go back to the sliding version drag the properties window to the left and over the positioning icons until the entire navigation pane turns blue then drop. Then turn the thumbtack to the left.

If you want to you could even position the properties window so it slides out from the right of the screen rather than over the navigation pane.

Lots of options for positioning the windows.

thanks, I do like the concept, but its wierdly glitchy when it slides in and I always have to wait a few seconds for it to load.

Slow Slide

That would be annoying. On my computer it takes about 1/2 second to slide in. So by the time my eye travels there from the place I clicked it is there. I wonder if there is some Windows setting that controls the speed. Or possibly your machine has a low amount of memory and it has to read from the disk for each action which could slow down responsiveness. If it is really that slow I would recommend just dragging the window out onto the screen so it becomes a pop-up.

Good info, I too find it

Good info, I too find it annoying sliding from the left and prefer it opening out in the screen.  Thanks Bill.
