Wall Definition : Profile Editing?
SoftPlan Version:
2018 Plus

Is there a way to edit a profile in the wall definition? ex: for a pole barn, there is a profile for 2x4-16 o.c. wall purlins under siding, can i change the spacing somehow to 24" oc? the boxes are greyed out and i cant find a way to change the 1'4" in editing profile. can i make a new profile or???

thanks

Wall Definitions

Edit a wall and select "Definition" which is right below Wall Joins. You can select New to create a new wall definition from scratch. Save As to make a copy of the currently selected wall. To change the spacing of the studs enter a number in the Stud Spacing box.

i understand how to make a new definition, what i am referring to is the profile column though, on the far right side of that screen. when you select "pole barn wall" there is a "profile" for 2x4 purlins 16" o.c. (horizontal nailers) which allows it to adapt to adjusted heights mid drawing. the stud spacing is not used in this instance.

thank you

Profiles

Profiles in wall definitions allow you to create 3D horizontal features such as lap siding or logs. The profiles do not control spacing of studs or anything else. They are strictly a 3D enhancement.

Pole Barn Spacing

I misunderstood what you were asking. I thought you were asking about stud spacing, which the profiles do not control. The Pole Barn 2x4 girts 16" spacing has nothing to do with stud spacing. It is a 3D profile to display girts, which are horizontal members to which you attach siding. If you wish different girt spacing you need to create different profiles.

Start by copying the Pole Barn 2x4 girts 16" spacing profile to one of your folders under Symbols. This will allow you to insert the profile into your drawing as a regular symbol. Then explode it. Adjust the total height of the box and line to create the desired spacing. Then create a profile using the new objects with the the desired spacing.
