Stone corners

Is there a way to use quoining to get basic garage corner stone and control the height? I need to make 1/2 height, 7' and full height stone just to start.

I had been using a wall of just stone and touching it up to the other wall. Softplan does not like walls touching though. I also need to have trim extend over garage door and over the 7' stone as well.

Thanks,

Damon, can you provide drawings of exactly what you are trying to achieve. Otherwise I'll just end up replying with some sort of garrulous dialogue trying to cover every possible contingency. And nobody likes that!

Stone corners

Bill,

As you can see there is stone on the garage corners.

What I did on this drawing is create a wall that is just stone. Then i inserted it against an existing wall and reduced the wall join tolerance. I am covering some siding but the functionality is most important to me at this point. Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks,

Damon, while there are a number of ways you could do the stone corners I think the simplest would be to use Solid Polygons.

  • From the Draw Tab select Solid--> Polygon and then select a material from the list.
  • Draw a polygon in the shape of the corner.
  • Use Copy to make a copy of the Polygon off to the side.
  • Edit the second Polygon and give it a material different than what you assigned to the first polygon.
  • Edit the polygons and adjust their Heights and Elevations. The Elevation setting is located in the Common tab when editing the polygon and determines how far off the ground the polygon sits.
  • Move the polygons into place on the wall.
  • Verify in 3D that they are correct and if not make any necessary adjustments.
  • Convert the polygon corner into a Symbol to make it easy to reuse the corners.

The symbols can be exploded in a drawing if you need to make any size adjustments based on that particular design.
