Softplan to Sketchup

Hi,

can anyone tell me how to import a softplan drawing into sketchup to build a model.

                              Thanks

                                         Ron

From any 3D mode in SoftPlan select File-->Export. Select an appropriate format such as DWG or 3DS depenting on the version of Sketchup you have. Sketchup 8 Pro will import either format. Sketchup 8 Free will will only import 3DS. Sketchup 6 or 7 Free can import DWG but 7 requires you to install a plugin for DWG.

Once you have exported the model from SoftPlan then in Sketchup select File-->Import. Select the appropriate format and browse to the file you previously exported.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for that, I will look at this later today as it is late here now & ready for bed. My initial thoughts are that because I am using V13 that I do not appear to have 3DS format & I am using SK8 free so maybe I need to either install SK6 free & use DWG or I could possibly upload an 8 hour trial version of SK8  & use 3DS. I will try to sort something tomorrow but thanks for that info Bill, I couldn't have got any further without it, good to hear from you.

Regards

Ron
