Quonset Huts

I went to look at an addition today that someone did without a Permit and got caught after the fact.   So now they need some drawings.

The addition is a stick framed affair fashioned onto the side of a Quonset Hut ( those corrugated metal buildings that are half round in

shape and most often used as automotive, welding or implement storage buldings ).

My question is; what is the best away to draw one of these buildings in Softplan ?   I've never attempted a half round structure before !

Jim, you didn't state in your profile here what version of SoftPlan you are using so I am assuming 2012.

A couple of suggestions. On the left is an Arc Plane. On the right is a roof with the edges set to Profile with a Round Top profile selected. Give the profile a width and height of 1/2 the width of the building.

Please see attached 2012 Project for this example. If you are using an earlier version you would use the same technique but you just won't be able to open the attached example files.

Bill, yes I use 2012.

I thought about using the Arc Plane but figured I wouldn't have as much flexibility with it for insulation, cutting it etc.

I don't think I would have thought about using a Profile Roof and fitting the gable end walls to the roof.   Perfect !!!

Thanks very much !
