I'm unable to figure out how to use the "Quick 3D" tool in the model
Quick 3D is pretty simple to use. While you have your drawing selected just click on the Model Tab and from the list of tools select Quick 3D. If you will look at the Status Bar you will see that it now reads "Select Camera and Target". Click on the drawing where you want the camera to be located. Then drag to a position for the camera target and click again. A dialog box will pop up and you can choose what type of 3D you want. Your choices are Previous, Wire Frame, Visible Line, etc. As soon as you make a selection a new SoftView window opens using the criteria you have just defined for the 3D.

Is it true that you can not get Quick 3D to work without first dragging the file from floor plan into Model in the navigation area?
Also, once I finally got it to work, I selected "wire frame" and I was not able to zoom at all. The zoom commands were all "grayed out".
Is it possible to zoom after generating a 3D image.
When you use Quick 3D the current drawing is automatically placed in the Model area of the Navigation dialog if it is not already there. If you are doing a single story structure then that is not a problem. But if you are working on a multi-story structure you will want to place the various floors in the Model area of the Navigation dialog prior to generating a 3D. Otherwise you will end up with only one floor or possibly with the floors stacked in the wrong order.
The 3D Zoom commands only work for elevation type views such as Front, Left, Right, Rear, and Birdseye. For other 3D views you can zoom in and out by rolling the mouse wheel or using the keyboard arrow keys. See this other post for an explanation of how to get around in 3D. https://softplantuts.com/forum/softplan/softplan/dimensions-zoom
Thanks for all the info.
