Profiles & reversing
SoftPlan Version:
2014

Is it possible when reversing a plan to have the profiles to reverse also. When I reverse a plan, all profiles used on the exterior don't move with the rest of plan. Annoying!

Reverse

Did you try doing a "Cleanup" (Ctrl+C) of the plan after reversing? Can you be more specific what you mean by "Profiles"?

Profiles

As shown in the image, you have window contours at the 2nd floor and gable to create double soffit as well as brick details for the sides of the garage door are profiles that did reverse with reverse.

Yvon, I can only think of a few things that would cause that.

Did you have "Visible Only" selected when you did the reverse? Visible Only should be OFF when reversing.

Did you draw the box far enough outside the building to make sure you got everything when you reversed?

Are the items on a locked layer?

Thanks Bill for the follow-up. Yes the visible only is off and I tried with the box stretched to the max and it didn't help. These items are drawn while in 3D or elevation mode. I don't know what layer it falls on. In floor plan mode, I put "All visible" but they don't show up.

Yvon if you will zip up your floor plan and project files and attach them here I'll be happy to take a look. Without seeing the files all I can do is keep guessing.

Mystery

Well, Yvon, that one is a mystery. I've rarely used Profiles in that way and I had never tried to reverse a plan that had profiles drawn in 3D before. Not saying there is anything wrong with what you did. But it appears that there is no way to reverse the profiles. You can't even access them in a drawing, only in 3D. They don't have any Layer or Building Options settings. They take on whatever options are active when they are drawn and you can't change them later. So my only suggestion would be to move them back to where they should be while in 3D.

Thanks. Sent it also to Softplan but they forwarded the suggestion because they don't have an answer either.

Garage trims

Bill, how do you do the sides of your garage doors? I don't use the "Exterior trim" because it goes to the bottom of the door instead of stopping at the top of the foundation. Profiles was Softplan's answer but find this annoying.

Cubes

Use a Solid Cube. Assign the cubes a layer such as Exterior Trim. After you are finished making any adjustments turn the layer off so the trim doesn't show in the plan. Layers control 2D not 3D so the cubes will still be visible in 3D. If you choose a different Group such as Solid 1, Solid 2, etc for each different type of material you want the cubes to represent you can assign textures to each type that uses the same Group.
