PAINT & COLOUR ON ELEVATIONS

Hi, first post on here, hope what I am asking makes sense, I am using V13

I created some elevations using only lines, shapes etc. & I tried to add some colour & paint for a render finish & timber boarding, to make them more informative for a planning application but i have not been successful as either the paint hides the colour or vice versa  & I cannot achieve both the paint & the colour displaying at the same time.

Anyone have any suggestions/help they could provide ? Thanking you in anticipation.

Paint and colour on elevations

Hello Ron,

I no longer have v13 so I can't verify this works in v13. But give it a try and see if it does what you want.

I created this image in v14. What I did was paint the area twice. Once with normal line paint and then again with an Image paint. If V13 allows you to paint with images then this should work. For the image paint I just selected a color bitmap.

This should work fine for screen shots but for prints you have a couple of options.

1) You can select "Use Screen Colors" from the print dialog. If you do this then the printout will have the same colors as what you see on the screen.

or

2) You can define different colored pens in the pen settings and assign an appropriate pen to the various areas. When using the pen technique you would not select "Use Screen Colors" because that would override the pen settings.

Let me know if this works for you and if not I'll see what else I can come up with.

PAINT & COLOUR ON ELEVATIONS

Hi Bill

just to let you know re the above you sent me, I have tried it out & found I can get the desired effect on printing using a bmp image but unfortunately it does not work on screen as the texture is hidden by the colour despite whichever goes on first. So what I have decided to do is put a note on each area after I do it & mark it with a "t" to show that texture has been applied & it is done as a no print note & shows up in red.

Not an ideal solution but I do not do this very often so it will suffice for now.

  Thanks for your help

Ron, one other option for you to try. Again, I no longer have V13 so I can't test this out to see if it works in V13.

Try creating an elevation. Then at the top right change from Visible Line to another style such as Textured or Rendered. See if you can achieve what you are looking for that way.
