Negative pitch question
SoftPlan Version:
2014 Plus

I received a message from support on a roof that told me to

"Also you need to edit the

red roof reference points to have a negative pitch

so they intersect with the roof."

Can someone explain how to edit roof reference points to a negative pitch?  This is something I'm not familiar with.

Thanks

Negative Pitch

I don't know about the Red Roof Reference points but generally if you need to reverse a pitch you can just type a minus sign in front of your pitch i.e.

if you are presented with a dialogue box to input pitch info instead of typing in 8 for an 8/12 pitch type in -8 and that will reverse the pitch line.

That particular part of the

That particular part of the roof was in red while the other part was a different color.  I did use the - before but it still didn't accomplish what I need. Thanks for the reply.  I'll keep playing with it.

Red roof

When there are multiple roofs drawn on the same plan each individual roof will be a different color. There is nothing significant about the roof being red other than it is just one of the colors that SoftPlan automatically assigns to the individual roofs.

If you would like me to take a look at the roof you can share the project with me since you are using SoftPlan+. If you want me to take a look at it just click on the "send author a message" button at the bottom of this post and tell me that you would like to share the project with me. I'll write back with my key number so you can share the project.

Or if you just want to post an image I might be able to tell you what to do just by looking at it.

Bill I am attaching several

Bill I am attaching several jpegs.  If this doesn't help I'll send the message.  First the roof with the message I received about it.  The green part of the roof was eliminated and re-drawn and is now gray.  Everything on this part of the rear roof is good except where the patio roof meets the garage.  Thanks for your help.

Message

Bill, I can't really tell what to do just from the images. I left you a private message with instructions how to share the project with me. You can access the messages either from the link in the email you should have received or by clicking on the Messages link up at the top right of the page.

Roof

Bill, it was a bit of a struggle because of the different plate heights and pitches all coming together but I got the roof on there. I used a little different method than the negative pitches. I just let the roofs run into each other then used the roof hole tool to cut out what I didn't want. I also changed some wall heights on the first floor to maintain the 10' ceiling in the porch. See the notes on the first floor for an explanation.

You can unshare the project by going to Model --> Project Information and click my name then select Delete User.

Bill looks great.  I didn't

Bill looks great.  I didn't understand the instructions given by support.  I had thought of changing those same wall heights as well but hadn't tried.  They can always put the ceiling height inside at 9'.  It was a little frustrating knowing what the roof needed to look like but not being able to make it happen.  Thank you so much for the help.
