Maintaining setting when upgrading
SoftPlan Version:
2014

I have upgraded to 2018 and am waiting on the package from SP.  I know there is a way to export settings.  If I do this will it work on the new version.  I don't want to have to reset my menu ribbon icons that I use.  Thanks.

Settings

My settings migrated over automatically from 2016. You can also use the File⇒System Options⇒Archive⇒Backup feature to save all your settings and then in 2018 File⇒System Options⇒Archive⇒Restore to transfer over your settings.

Thank you Bill.  That is is

Thank you Bill.  That is is what I have done when adding the software on another machine..  I wasn't sure if the newer version would accept the older information.

I got everything installed

I got everything installed and my ribbon icons do appear to have migrated.  Is there anything can be done about the views such as textured, wireline, etc?  I use textured view and it is never as I left it in a previous version.  Thanks.

Textures

Some materials have different textures assignments than in previous versions. You can set the materials the way you want them to initially be and then save them to the default materials file.

While in textured mode select File⇒Material File⇒Save. Select the Default folder. Select 3D.spm and click save. This will update your default texture settings to use your current settings.

I thought I would ask this in

I thought I would ask this in this thread instead of starting a new one.

When I use my scroll wheel on my mouse to zoom in on a textured render it moves extremely slow from the v2014.  I assume this is a setting and have looked but find nothing that can help.  Is there a way to speed this up?

3D Zoom Speed

Try adjusting the 3D Zoom Speed. If that doesn't do it for you then you might see if your mouse can customized for different programs and make an adjustment in the mouse program.
