Help

Hey guys and gals. I need to ask you all a favor. For some reason, which I can not explain, I have recently been getting a lot of people using the Website Feedback and Private Messages to ask me questions directly rather than putting them on the Forum. While I absolutely don't mind helping people and answering their questions I would prefer that everybody used the Forum. Helping someone out via email or private message helps just that one person. But it also prevents anyone else from being able to contribute and help out. An email only helps one person whereas a Forum discussion could help multiple people for years to come. And it also makes the site feel as though it is dead if there is no visible activity.

Thanks everybody laugh

Forum Repsonses

Bill, I'm not exactly sure how one sends a Private Message or Website feedback.   Is that when someone

selects the box "Send Author A Message" for a reply to a posting ?   I wonder if it would help if you could

mention which are the correct boxes to use to either Post a Mesasge or Reply to a Message on the forum ?

Hey Jim. The Website Feedback button is up at the top right of the page. Actually, now that I look at it the button says "Contact". I was just going by what the email that I receive is labeled as, which is Website Feedback.

You are correct that the button labeled "Send Author a Message" is used for sending private messages rather than responding to a post. You can also send private messages by clicking on a person's name to take you to their profile page and selecting "Send This User a Private Message" down at the bottom.

The two ways to reply to a post are to either select "Post Reply" at the very top or to select "Reply" on the actual post you are replying to. For instance someone creates a post and there are several replies. Selecting "Reply to Post" at the top puts the reply down at the end of the list. But if you want to reply to a certain message in the list then you would select "Reply" on that individual post. Doing so will put the new reply under the post, indent it, and it will be labeled "Reply to Post #" along with the number of the post that is being replied to.

I sincerely hope I didn't offend anyone here. That was certainly not my intention. I do love hearing from you guys and helping any way I can. But I would like others to have the opportunity to help out as well smiley
