General Notes and Standard Details
SoftPlan Version:
2014 Plus

Newbie here again...Is there a place to find usable "Standard Notes" to use in Plan Sets (I'm in Ontario but can easily make changes that reflect our Code) or do I have to take the time to 1 finger type out the ones I have...lol. Also for plan sets- how do I find wall details to use. I know they are in SP I just don't know how to drag/paste to Plan set.

Notes and details

If you already have your notes in another application you can copy the text to the Windows clipboard and paste them into a drawing in SoftPlan. on the Edit tab select Paste from Windows Clipboard.

Once you have the notes in SoftPlan you can then create Speed Notes from them that can be easily used in drawings or directly on Plan Set pages.

The wall details in SoftPlan are symbols. You can not directly insert symbols onto a Plan Set page. What you will need to do is place them on a drawing and then you can insert that drawing onto a Plan Set page. If you have a set of standard details you include in each project you can create a details page that you can copy from project to project and not have to recreate them for each project.

Unfortunately I had a situation where the notes were destroyed and now I have to redo. Hence the question. Starting completely fresh with SP and coming into the new ages..lol. Drawings are just a hobby of mine for friends with small projects. Ready to expand that hobby to include bigger projects. Hand generated drawings are no longer...lol. Figured I'd start with my own before attempting any others. Enjoying it! Had my BCIN (Ontario's 'Building Code Identification Number') for many years as a job requirement just never branched out to do drawings beyond small projects. Time to look at retirement hobby..lol

Notes

You might take a look through the various Speed Notes provided by SoftPlan as well as the Details symbols and see if there is anything close to what you are needing.

Speed Notes

You can't "open" speed notes. You insert them similar to the way a symbol is inserted. Notes Tab⇒Speed Notes. Select a Speed Note and then click on the drawing to place it.

What format for importing Notes

How would one get a page of notes from a word document into SP?? Is Word the best format to do this or is there an alternative. Figured I'd ask now before I start typing. It's going to be a grueling process so I figure I better ask first. This is for pages of Standard Notes, Construction Notes and Detail Notes. My thought would be to cut and paste as required. The speed Notes are great but finding what you want and essential doing the same is getting tiresome. Thanks
