Framed Hole Opening / Stair Issue
SoftPlan Version:
2016

Hello,

(NEW to softplan)

I'm having an issue when putting in stairs. I seem to have stairs in 3D on both my main floor and foundation floor. Also, my framed hole opening is covered with grass (see picture).

Would love to hear any suggestions on how to have only one set of stairs while maintaining the stair symbol on both the main floor and foundation floor plans.

Thanks in advance,

Brayden.

Please see the tutorial Stairways in 3D for your stair settings.

When doing a basement you will need to use a property polygon drawn in Site mode rather than using Auto Horizon. You can't cut holes in the Auto Horizon so you will end up with the grass showing in the basement.

Stairs

Explode the stairs on one of the levels.  The lines will stay and show on your Plan View  but the symbol

will be gone on that level, meaning that in Elevation or 3D only one set of stairs will show.

Stairs

Welcome to Softplan. If you prefer to keep your stair as a stair instead of lines, you can also edit your basement stair and on the "Stair Options" tab, check the box for "Break" below display and your stair will have a break line with the upper section dotted and will not appear in 3D or the section.

Break

One thing to keep in mind when using the Break setting is that the 3D for that stair is automatically hidden because "Extract in Model" on the Common tab is turned off. In versions of SoftPlan prior to 2016 this really didn't matter. However, 2016 adds the ability to create "Presentation Views" of each floor. A Presentation View is a top-down view of the drawing with the ceilings and roofs removed. If "Extract in Model" is turned off for a stair then when you create a presentation view there will be no stairs in that view. So if you want to use a Presentation View and you want to use Break you can select Break and then go to the Common tab and turn "Extract in Model" back on. That way you can see the stairs in each Presentation View.
