Foundation Drawing
SoftPlan Version:
2014

Good Evening,

Tonight I was working on my Foundation plan and as I was throwing the dims on the plan I noticed it would put the on the outside corners,(which is what I want.  As far as the inside of the house for the bearing walls the customer wants the dim to go from the outside wall to the edge of the footing(most customers/builders measure to the center of the footing..

The help that you guys gave me the other night worked great and I got everything to work!!.  On the elevation how can I show the 4: drop on the front and rear patio's(on my elevation views).

I'm very impressed with this program and all the stuff it can do!  I watched a video on here tonight on how to make symbols can made a custom stone base with a tapered column so thanks for the video it was very helpful... Again sorry for the questions!  I appreciate all the help!!

I'm not really understanding what you are trying to do with the dimensioning. Can you provide an image of what is happening and then explain again what it is that you are wanting? Like they say, an image is worth a thousand words. And since different people call things different terms it is sometimes hard to determine what exactly people are trying to accomplish without an image.

For the 4" drop you will need to use Levels. Draw your main foundation and assign it Level 1. I always set the foundation offset down 4" so that the top of the slab is at 0" but everybody does things differently. Then draw in your porch slabs and set them to non-structural. Assign them both to Level 2 and set the offset to be 4" lower than Level 1. For instance if Level 1 offset is set to 0" then Level 2 offset would be set to 4" down. If Level 1 elevation is set to 4" down then Level 2 elevation would be set to 8" down.

You just need to make them a little smaller and they will upload here. Try using the Windows Snipping Tool to make and save screen shots. Click on the Windows Start button and type Snipping in the search to find it. You can use it to draw a box around a portion of the screen and then save to file. The Snipping Tool even has a highlighter and pen that you can use to mark up your images. If you save larger images in *.jpg format they will easily upload here. For smaller images that include text, such as a dialog box, I usually save to *.png in order to keep the text sharp.
