Can't figure out how to make a double gable end roof line over an entry post. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I would have to see the actual plan because there are some variables involved here that would determine the exact method. However, it appears that you have everything you need going on. You just need to pull the roof connector for the left side of the larger gable over to the same wall as the left of the smaller gable. But like I said, there could be other factors at play here so I can't tell you that would fix the problem without seeing the plan. or at the very least a screen shot of that area in roof mode.

I'm trying to have a double gable roof on the same plane. One for the living room and one that extends above the living room to the post forming an entry area for the house. I can't seem to understand how to create that condition. Any suggestions, see attached drawings.
Hey Hector, first of all you need to put some beams to support the larger gable. You can do that entire roof as one roof trace but since you want both gables to be on the same plane you have to have the overhangs for the gables be slightly different. For instance make the larger gable overhang 18" and the smaller gable overhang 18 1/8". You just have to have a little difference in the overhangs so that one of the roof polygons doesn't disappear.
The other option would be to just trace in the larger gable over the smaller one, attaching the left side to the same wall as the left of the smaller gable. And the right side would attach to the beam that you need to place on that side. Many times when you put 2 roofs on the same wall or beam the second roof will try to create an intersection edge. If that happens just edit the edge and change it back to hip and make any other adjustments necessary to get rid of the intersect edge. Either way will work, but the first method will usually give easier and better results.
