Dimension Format

Changing the Dimension format before dimensioning exterior walls does not seem to be working for me.  For example, if I have it set to "Surface" and then dimension, it always dimensions from the stud. No mater what I set the format on it always dimensions from the same place. I tried all the selections.  I'm using 2x6/siding as my wall.

I also tried changing the format in "Dimension Options" in the "Drawing Options" area and got the same results.

The interior wall format works fine.

The dimension options for walls only apply to walls that do not have any dimension or extension options defined as part of the wall definition. Edit your wall and in the edit dialog select "Definition" at the bottom left corner of the edit dialog box. Look in the columns for Dimension and Extension. If any material has a dimension or extension placement defined for that wall then those settings will override any dimension or extension settings you select in the Drawing Options. If you want the Drawing Options to be the controlling setup then make sure that all Dimension and Extension settings are set to "None" within the wall definition.
