Deleting one wall of a corner leaves the remaining wall short?

Hi,

I notice that when I delete a wall that intersects another wall at a corner that the wall that is left is shortened as per the corner mitre. This makes it hard to attach a new wall and get lengths correct. Is there a way around this? This is an exterior wall so it is asymetrical.

Thanks

Delete or Change

Damon, it sound from your description that you are talking about deleting one wall so you can replace it with another. Is this correct? If so, then why not just change the existing wall to be what you want the new wall to be? When you do this you will be presented with a list of options that you can mix and match to have the new wall in the correct location relative to the existing wall.

You mentioned that "This makes it hard to attach a new wall and get lengths correct." When I'm sketching in walls I don't worry too much about getting them exact. Just throw the wall in and then use dimensions or temporary dimensions to move the wall to the exact location. A lot of times I will use Copy, Offset, or Select Item to Draw to place a wall. In fact once I have a particular wall type in the drawing I never access the Wall list to draw that wall again. I use the Copy, Offset, or Select tools to draw that wall again.

I also use the Align to Edge tool to line walls up to each other.

All of my commands I use all the time are mapped to Keyboard Shortcuts to make them easy to access without having to hunt through the menus.

Of course I could be completely misunderstanding your question so if this doesn't help perhaps you can upload an image of what you are talking about.
