SoftPlan Version:
2018 Plus

I have set my desired fonts to Arial on System Options yet I just opened a New Project and the fonts I set reverted back to the standard fonts (Sphand) from SoftPlan. How do I assure the fonts I set on System Options stay?

Also, when opening shared filed the font reverts to Sphand even though the font used by my co-worker was set Arial. Is there a way to prevent the fonts from changing?

Thanks for the help!

In the past I have had tons of problems with SoftPlan changing my Arial fonts to Sphand. It has been quite frustrating. For the most part the font changes have settled down and I only see it occasionally when opening projects from earlier versions.

You stated that after changing your system fonts to Arial you "opened a new project". Did you open an existing project or did you create a new project. Changing the System fonts has no effect on any drawings that were created prior to changing the system fonts.

After noticing that the drawings did not have Arial fonts did you go back to your system settings and verify that you had in fact saved the system settings with the Arial fonts?

I haven't started using 2018 yet so I don't know if there is something different in 2018 than 2016 regarding the fonts.

Correct, I created a new project and my fonts reverted back to Sphand. Super frustrating. And yes, I verified that I saved the fonts. A dialog box prompts to save changes after making any changes in System Options. Would avoiding Arial be wise?

Any thoughts on shared files and fonts changing between users? It keeps reverting to Sphand though neither of us use that font. And most of those files were created on 2016 and we are bringing them in to SoftPlan 2018 now.

Thanks so much for the help!

I use Arial font exclusively. I'm still on 2016 so I can't speak for 2018. For the most part the fonts have settled down in my 2016 projects. I still have problems with projects I bring in from earlier versions. All my system fonts are set to Arial. All my drawing fonts are set to Arial. All my Project fonts are set to Arial. And yet, in certain cases they will switch to Sphand.

The cases where they will switch are if I had a note that was created in an earlier version and was set to "Fit On Adjust". If I use Reset to System on this drawing the font will change to Sphand. I have to uncheck Fit On Adjust to get the font to hold to Arial. The other case where they will switch is if I open a drawing created in an earlier version and use Reset to System then all the text in any schedule switches to Sphand. Regenerating the schedule clears up the problem from then on.

Sphand is the font that SoftPlan uses if it can not find the specified font. It may be that when you originally created the drawings you used a different variety of "Arial" font than what you currently have. That might apply to your situation as well where the font changes depending on who opens the file. Say for instance one user has an Arial font created by font creater "A" and the other has and Arial font created by front creater "B". Or some other sort of difference between the fonts on the two machines. Even though they may both be called Arial SoftPlan recognizes that they are not exactly the same and considers the font to not exist.

I would look at the fonts on both computers and see if there are differences in the fonts and if so see if you can match them up. Also see if Reset to System on the drawing file gets the fonts to settle down, at least on a file by file basis until you get them all converted over.
