Custom Cabinet Doors
SoftPlan Version:
2014 Plus

Is it possible to create custom cabinets/cabinet doors and add them to the available styles in Softplan. I have been designing more and more custom Euro Style Kitchens, and have had to use Sketchup as the cabinet styles that are preloaded are not avaliable. I want to create a Framless Cabinet with multiple Door options as illustrated below. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Custom Cabinet Faces

You will need to create a new set of Cabinet Face Styles for each new style you want to make. Start out by creating new folders within C:\SoftPlan2014\Cabinet Face Style to store each new style and give each folder the name of the new style.

Copy one of the Cabinet Face Style folders, including all of the cabinet faces within, and place this in your Symbols folder. You will use this as a basis to start making your new cabinet faces.

Then simply insert the cabinet faces into your drawing like you would any other symbol. Explode each cabinet face and edit to represent your new cabinet faces. The funny little circles with triangles are cabinet pulls so you may need to move and/or rotate them to match your new styles.

In Sketchup or another modeling program create the 3D version of all your custom cabinet faces. Place these 3D files in new folders within C:\SoftPlan2014\3D\3D Symbols.

Once you have your 2D faces and 3D models created you select File⇒System Options⇒System Library. Switch to Cabinet Face Style. Select the folder where you want to save the new cabinet face and select One Step. Create each cabinet face the same way you create a symbol. For each cabinet face check the Link to 3D Symbol and link to the 3D version of the cabinet face.

Bill,

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for your help. It's a time consuming process, but well worth the time spent. I still have a number of door style to go, but thanks to you have a handle on getting it done. I've attached a quick sample of the first door type for reference. Thanks again for the help.

Yes I agree. Is that a custom flooring that you created?
