Any one know how to edit/ convert text lines in a DWG file?

I’ve imported several dwg files into Softplan. What I wish to do now is to edit the text that’s associated within these files however all the text is in lines.

Is there a way of converting the text in the dwg file so it can be edited i.e. font, case etc.?

I’ve tried converting the file into PDF and back into word however the result of this is an image is created within the word doc!! Not editable.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Peter

DWG Files

Hi Peter. Can you attach one of the original DWG files here so I can take a look? It may be that the text in the DWG files are actually shapes rather than text.

Hi Bill,

Hi Bill,

Greatly appreciate you getting back to me.

My file size is just a little bigger than the allowable limit. But I have it on my google drive:

I hope this is ok.

Cheers

Peter.

Text is not text

Peter, unfortunately the "text" is not text. I opened the file in ACAD and all the text has been converted to polylines. There may be some OCR programs that can read an image of the text and convert it back into text but other than that about your only option is to use as is or retype.

Thanks Bill for confirming.

Thanks Bill for confirming.

Your help is always appreciated.

Cheers

Peter.

I had a similar situation

I had a similar situation recently.  What I did was 'print' it to a PDF, then I performed OCR on the PDF via Acrobat.  It allowed me to then copy and paste the text from Acrobat into Softplan.  If you have a lot of text, this can be a time saver if you type as slow as I do.

Thanks Corey,

Thanks Cory,

I downloaded a Acrobat trial and the OCR works nicely compared to other software I've trialing over the last week. Looks like I've found my next investment.
