18+ v Win.10
SoftPlan Version:
2018 Plus

I've had some.....the kind word....."difficulties" with V18 since it's initial update months ago.  Updating came about with a series of Start Pages that allowed SoftPlan couldn't connect with Softplan.com.
The 18+ tech support suggested making sure that SP was a default program that would communicate through the Firewall as well as knocking back ad, mal and virus-ware defenses. Nothing worked....just starting up on this computer (my Thinkpad T510) in the free downloaded version of 10 when it came out a couple of years ago....just opened up the Start Page; but nothing to sync up to as 18+ was out of contact.

I'm doing another update today via a new Tech at Softplan that so far....has found related some issues that are jiving with the existing set up.  Most of it deal with 10 and updates v. Windows Explorer.  It's looking for version 11 with the newest 18 update....and set up.  It's been a major SNAFU for the past few months but as the current 10 update is loading, hopefully with a re-check on defaults and latest 10 updates....it'll be ready to go back to work and take some of the time off of the workstation that gets most of the daily action.

I've noted...conspicuous by its absence....this problem with anyone else here or in SPLASH.  The purpose for the note...just searching around for other users that dealt with and resolved their issues.  Thanks!!

Problems

The only problems I have had with Win 10/SoftPlan 2018 are 1) White text on a white background in the header area (was reported when Win 10 first came out and is still that way to this day) and 2) extremely slooooowwwwww paint after the "Creators" update which came out recently. I was having internet problems for 3 days last week and during that time SoftPlan was almost unusable but got back to normal once the internet service was restored.

Correction

Correction: Apparently the white text on white background has been changed. Guess I should have checked to verify whether this was still the case.

Thanks Bill....sorry for the

Thanks Bill....sorry for the late reply; we took off for a short week to Maryland and with all good intentions with the laptop in question to work out the issues during any off time.  For the time I was away, the laptop could not (or would not) see any networks; even trying to force feed a manual connection to a wireless at the B&B that we called home for that time.

It's not SoftPlan...it's obviously the proprietary software that 10 has updated since the "FREE DOWNLOAD" a couple of years ago to obliterate competitors already on my Lenovo 510.  From Chrome, Kaspersky, ReVo Uninstaller, Girls Gone Wild - the Game.....everything that MS didn't already have a browser, system & internet security, install/uninstall program(s) for those and anything else in conflict (including SP18+ looking for Internet Explorer to contact SP) got parsed out....including ALL of the Lenovo applications and system testing (PC Doc).

I chose to do a RESET and Windows 10 idea of a reset is to friggin' clear the board of any and all things not MS/Windows.

The Free version of 10 was probably not in the best interest of a Lenovo laptop that was already on the verge of being outdated...most assuredly by the time Sketch Up went Open GL last version wherein....SketchUp is also not usable.  I think I'm going to poke around for a cheap Win 7 disk, go bare metal and then start over so I can at least have SoftPlan+ back online for this elder while I search for something more up to date with 10 aboard AND the OS dvd for backup.

It's all pilot error on my part.  Obviously so by the lack of SP users with the same issue....just too much convoluted software for a new OS system on a laptop that released in 2010.  I will say that the reset to clean up Win10 OS and viable software left a pretty good running machine...with the exception that the SafeWatch is hammered in at Moderate.  Not that I need to lower the standards of the laptop to OFF....but, this A.I. thing is starting to worry me when it starts making decisions about what will and what will not be acceptable to a entity being controlled by Microsoft.

Win 10

How long ago did you update to Windows 10? I believe that for a certain amount of time after making the update you can revert your system back.

I'm past that revert time..

I'm past that revert time...10 unloaded the nuts and bolts of 7 which made pulling things back together impossible quite a while ago.  I'm looking forward to not spending any more time with this losing battle.
