1 1/2 Story 2nd Floor Walls

I am wondering how to make my 2nd floor walls adjust to the rafters.  Additionally, how do you eliminate / alter the wall produced by the gable end so that a window can be added and interior wall applications applied.

Thanks, Tom

Edit the wall and select the "Fit to Roof" button in the wall settings.

Edit the gable and uncheck "Gable End Provided By Roof".

Fit to Roof

Thanks again Bill.  Even though I select the wall and then select the Fit to Roof command, nothing seems to happen.  The wall still goes through the rafters and doesn't shorten at all.  Must be missing something??

I would just have to take a look at the files. Probably something very simple. If you would like me to take a look at it you can attach your drawings here or if you have SoftPlan+ you can share your project with me via the cloud.

Ok Tom, I got your project share and took a look at it. The the reason Fit to Roof is not working is because the walls you are trying to fit to the roof are on the Second Floor but you put your roof on the First Floor. As a result there is no roof on the second floor for the walls to fit to. You can fit walls from a lower floor to a roof that is on an upper floor but you can't fit walls on an upper floor to a roof that is on a lower floor? Does that make sense?

Yes that makes perfect sense.  So from here, do I select the roof and change it to level 2 or do I eliminate the roof entirely and draw it on the 2nd floor?

You can copy the roof to the SoftPlan Clipboard and paste it on the second floor then erase from the first floor. Or just erase on the first floor and redraw on the second.

The Cloud

Hey Bill,  I'll send this over to you or publish it on the cloud.  However, the cloud is totally new to me and I cannot find any reference to it in the Inst. manual or the Help section.  How do I publish it to the cloud?  Sorry for being so out of touch, but I'm working on it.

Thanks, Tom

To publish to the cloud you

To publish to the cloud you need the latest version of Softplan 2014 along with softplan plus.

Do you have that?

Yes, I sent you a personal Email with all the information and I did figure out how to publish it to the Cloud and if the green dot is accurate, it should be there.

Hey Tom. In order to share a project with someone else you need to know their SoftPlan key number. I sent you a private message with my key number and instructions on how to share your project with me.

The green dot next to a project name on the Start Page is an indicator that you have saved the project to the Cloud. But it is not an indicator that you have shared the project with someone else. To share a project you open the project, select the Model tab, select Project Information, enter the Key Number and Name of the person you wish to share the project with and then select Add User.

The ability to save to the Cloud is a wonderful thing, especially if you work on projects from multiple computers. When you have saved the project to the Cloud you could then take your key with you to another computer that has SoftPlan+ installed and you can open the project from that computer and work on it. No need to email the files or put on a thumb drive or anything. You just open the project and go to work.
