Site Testers Needed

After a few months of work I believe I finally have the Video system for SoftPlanTuts working the way I want it. I tried out a number of prepackaged systems and none of them met the needs of what I wanted to do. So I created a whole new system from scratch with the help of a couple formatting and display modules.

I would like to find some people who would like to try the system out and report any problems they encounter as well as make any suggestions to make the system work better and more intuitively.

If you are interested please let me know and I will make adjustments to your account that will allow you to access the Video system. Once I get feedback and make any adjustments based on your suggestions I will release the restrictions and make the video system available to everybody.

Please note that I do have a number of videos posted but they are just example videos for testing purposes. The content of the videos is not important. What I need is feedback on how easy the videos are to view and locate within the system.

Thanks!

Bill is the owner and maintainer of SoftPlanTuts.com

I wanted to post a quick

I wanted to post a quick thought so I could document my first impression.  Initial thoughts are very positive.  I didn't have any trouble figuring out the layout.  I really like grouping them by experience level & the nested organization.  Later tonight or tomorrow I plan to take a closer look and see if I can give you any suggestions.

I tested it on a Windows 7 64bit pc with Chrome 21 & Firefox 14.  No problems at all.  I also tested it with my Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android 4.0) and didn't have any issues either.  In fact, all controls are accessible including 'full screen'.  Later I will test it on my tablet.  I also have access to an iPad, so I will try to test that tomorrow.

Fantastic! There are numerous way to sort and access the videos. I'll leave it to you to figure them out and determine how intuitive they are.

Videos promoted to Front Page

This is a question for the people testing the Videos. Should the Videos be included on the Front Page or should the Front Page just include Text based Tutorials and Articles? Currently I have a few of the Videos promoted to the Front Page for testing but my concern is that when I start actually producing Video Series then the videos might overtake the Front Page and all of the Text Tutorials and Articles would be pushed down into subsequent pages.

One thought would be to include just the Introductory Videos for each Series on the Front Page and the full Series would be available by browsing to the Videos section.

As a side note, each type of content includes an icon on the right side next to the date indicating whether it is a Text Tutorial, an Article, a Video, etc.

What are your thoughts?
