If you have a wall type that you use from project to project you should have that wall included in your System Options. But what if you created a wall in your Drawing and want to move it to the System Options without having to recreate it? SoftPlan allows you to export walls to a file and then import those walls into the System Options or into Drawing Options of another drawing.

For this example I will take a wall created in a drawing and copy it into the System Options.

  1. Go to File-->Drawing Options-->Drawing Options-->Define Wall-->Import/Export.
  2. From the Export pane on the right select the wall or walls you want to export. To select a single wall just click on it. To select multiple walls that are all together select the first wall then while holding the Shift key select the last wall you want to export. To select walls that are not together hold the Ctrl key and click on each wall you want to export.
  3. Once you have your walls selected select Export to File.
  4. Give the export file a name and select Save.

Next we want to import the wall or walls into the System Options.

  1. Go to File-->System Options-->System Options-->Define Wall-->Import/Export.
  2. From the Import pane on the left select Load File.
  3. Select the previously exported file and select Import. The wall or walls are added to your System Options.

For a faster way you can also import a wall or walls into your System Options directly from the current drawing without having to first export to a file.

  1. Go to File-->System Options-->System Options-->Define Wall-->Import/Export.
  2. From the Import pane on the left select Current Drawing. The Import pane is populated with all of the walls from the current drawing.
  3. Select the walls you want to import then select Import.

When you import a wall it is placed at the end of the walls listing. If you want to change the position of the wall you can use Sort.

  1. Go to File-->System Options-->System Options-->Define Wall-->Sort.
  2. Select the wall you want to move. The wall is removed from the list and placed in the box below.
  3. Locate where you want to place the wall. Click on the wall name just above where you want to place the wall. The wall is removed from the box below and placed under the selected wall.
